This is just another “Trump isn’t a conservative” diatribe.

Until you stop the wholesale destruction of this nation to the stalwarts and the globalist a everything else is irrelevant.

Arguing for anyone else based on their conservative credentials when they are beholden to the same money and folks who have given us nearly 3 decades of failed domestic, foreign and economic policies is a dead argument.

We have reached the point where what is best for America isn’t even on the table, it’s just left v right small ball to keep folks Balkanized and distracted while both sides sell this nation out.

If you are for open borders, amnesty, free trade et al your not putting America first. If putting America first isn’t your number one priority whatever else you argue is irrelevant. Left v Right when America doesn’t come first in the argument is small ball.

Trump may be a disaster, he may be great, but when the two parties that have given us, Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama want to argue Trump will be a disaster they don’t have a leg to stand on.

If he’s a failure in 4 years, he will be voted out.. The Republic will survive. It’s managed to survive you abject mismanaged for most of my life, I highly doubt 4 or 8 years of a guy who puts country over party dogma is going to destroy it.

“The most likely outcome is another four to eight years of trench warfare in D.C.”

I must have missed all that warfare, Oh, no I didn’t. It never happened. Like that monster of a fight on the last “budget”.. It must have taken every once of energy to hold the other half of the uni-party to they’re demands.

I remember people condemning pictures like those at Obama rallies the last two elections.

Now they celebrate. Our Republic is lost.

You can't let a mob run your party.

Um, dude! That "mob" is the American people!

It looks like this author is yet another person who embraces the premise that the people exist to cater to politicians' wishes.

People are tired of the yoke. Trump is running on the promise that he will unyoke us!

The author writes: "The myth that Democrats get everything will persist. But despite plenty of well-earned criticism, the GOP has been a more effective minority party than constituents give them credit for."

And he reveals himself as an flak for the GOPe and their donor class.

So of cause he would rather have a Hillary as President rather than a Republican who is not GOPe, Washington Cartel and Vichy-Republican.

Republican president - every “scandal” will have legs.

Democrat president - no scandal ever has legs.

You know I don’t like the guy either, but all this doom and gloom proclaiming he is a disaster from the beginning is falling on voters’ deaf ears who are just eager for an outsider -— ANY outsider to do something to shake up DC. I have even heard federal employees threatening to QUIT if Trump is elected. You know how that is received by the voters outside DC? GOOD!!! We could do with a few less bureaucrats!!!

“There is little question Trump would abuse power. In some way, it’s the point of his candidacy. The thing that gets his admirers excited. “Finally, someone who will use the IRS for us. Someone who will circumvent Congress for us. Obama gets everything; why shouldn’t we?”

How did this guy read my mind?

Yeah - the best shots we have on our side always seem to be 'even worse than the other side" and it is never proved because we insure that the other side wins.

Then we tell ourselves we had no other choice while accepting none of the blame as our Nation rots and molders.

That makes us bigger idiots than the other side for sure - even as we mock them for being idiots -- who always seem to be on the winning end of things.

Pogo had us pegged.

All of you are going to hate me, but Hillary WILL be President. Liberals are attracted to people who lie to get what they want, because that is what liberals do. Way over half of this nation are liberals no matter what label they carry - look at Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Trump, etc., ad nauseum. Trump can NOT beat Hillary because of the moral depravity of the nation. The people will NOT elect a leader is anywhere near being Godly. It’s not going to happen.

shouldn't be surprised that a large faction on the Right (more than likely, the larger faction on the Right) won't support a candidate who is adversarial to its belief system. To support Trump would be an exercise in pure partisanship. For conservatives, it would mean facilitating their own destruction. It makes no sense.

Correct. Not only is Trump not conservative, he is also a person of low character.

Everyone trying to read the tea leaves. Psychics and projectionist abound. All professing to read details of the future, when they are barely able to get their fat asses onto a beltway bus or subway holding their cup of Starbucks frapee mocha choka.

The same pundit pontificators who feel free to define the future in terms of their world view, prejudices and fears, are enable to provide the mountains of texts they have previously authored, that correctly predicted anything substantive about future events.

But now they are the sole source of wisdom and prescience that clearly sees the final chapter of a Donald Trump ascendancy.

Well here is my prediction, and it is the only one that is valid. No one knows how this thing will turn out. We are all busy projecting our own biases and subjective realities onto a situation the is entirely unprecedented and unpredictable.

The only thing that is certain is that the next few months will be completely void of rationality and objectivity. We are about to enter the twilight zone of politics, where believing is all that matters and your imagination will dictate reality.

This will end up marginalizing ideological conservatism from within the party.

.... as opposed to now, when conservatives are embraced and loved by the Establishment Republicans?

To support Trump would be an exercise in pure partisanship. For conservatives, it would mean facilitating their own destruction.

.... because now, conservatism has had such a wonderful place at the table, provided by the Establishment Republicans?
