Mostly we would have to be riding herd on the TURKS so they don’t use our “assistance” as a cover to go in and massacre Kurds.
But besides that, Turkey really, really, wants the US to pull their nuts out of the fire in regards to Russia.
Turkey really does not want open warfare with Russia, but there is just no avenue or even back door to making some kind of accommodation with Vladimir Putin.
Can Russia stop a serious Turkish armored thrust at their airport, only 30 miles across the border, with the forces they have on hand? I doubt it.
