And how do you propose to get rid of the Unaffordable Careless Act? Cruz was leading the fight to defund it, which would have rendered it unenforceable. The RINO Establishment wasn’t willing to do anything to oppose it.
BTW, after that “shutdown” (of 17 percent of the government), the Republicans increased their margins in the House and took over control of the Senate.
They increased their numbers, but they didn’t get rid of ObamaCare.
There’s a youtube of Coburn saying these things. You can see that old Tom Coburn, everybody’s consistent conservative, was hurt when he left and many conservatives were claiming that he wasn’t even a conservative.
His gripe with Cruz was that Cruz promised people they could get rid of ObamaCare when Cruz knew that it wasn’t going to happen anytime soon, that it depended on override numbers.
Coburn’s right about it not getting past Obama. No matter how long they held out of funding the nation, Obama would not have permitted them to get rid of his signature accomplishment.
Nonetheless, I wanted to see them try. I wanted them to flush out everyone’s vote. At one level, I just wanted them to fight a little.
The only way we’ll get rid of it is a conservative president, a super majority in the senate or a majority with a leader willing to use a nuke option.
