Mandatory Insurance Looms Over Gun Owners

Lawmakers in at least four states are pushing bills to force gun owners to register with, and buy liability insurance from, casualty insurers.

So far, politicians have proposed imposing these mandates through state laws in Hawaii, New Hampshire and New York, and through city ordinance in Los Angeles.

The bills are similar to legislation proposed last year in Congress by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., whose "Firearm Risk Protection Act" would require gun owners to provide proof of liability insurance before purchasing a firearm and subject gun owners who fail to maintain insurance to fines up to $10,000, Insurance Business America reports.

The New Hampshire bill, introduced by Democrat state Rep. Katherine Rogers, requires not only firearm purchasers but also sellers and owners of firearms to maintain liability insurance. Violators would face fines of up to $10,000.

The gun grabbers are kinda like the Energizer bunny.....they keep trying and trying and trying...

Good analogy.

If this idiocy would go into effect, a man or woman defending themselves or their families or property could be sued. For now I think we are safe from that happening but at the rate we’re going, sometime in the near future it could be a reality.

Not if the States stand up against it. But I see your point.

I can just see all the criminals with illegal guns lining up outside of insurance offices, can’t you?

“”It will be law if Obaba and Hillary get to appoint the next 4 justices.””

Bite your tongue! At lease for now, it’s proposed by a few states but soon it will drain down to the swamp in DC...Gotta love that Maloney gal - she never gives up so she will be at it again. She’ll never be out of our lives any more than Sarah Brady will be...

Good points, and as always it’s about REGISTRATION, knowing WHO owns the guns.

".they keep trying and trying and trying..."

And I am guilty of doing nothing to stop them. What I mean is where is our 45 point plan to undo all the "45 points" to undo what was started in the late 50's early 60's which is were we need to start given IMHO progressives are the useful idiots doing the dirty work of this "movement"....

Does anyone think that someone other than Donald Trump has the “energy” to attack and decimate the anti-gun lobby? We are at the point where nice doesn’t work, nor do erudite debating points. We are so far down the road to perdition, that we need a street fighter from Queens.

Insurance required to exercise your rights. Got it.

Where does it end?

No insurance company will sell insurance for that.

The real point:

Register your guns with insurance companies. Who then hand that info over to the federal government.

All constitutional issues aside, think about it. Most states have basically “deep pockets” liability laws. i.e. Liability is determined by who has the greatest ability to pay, not who is responsible.

So lawful gun owner gets $100K ins as required by the fascists. Lawful gun owner shoots the intruder attempting to murder him. Crook’s lawyer sees plump chicken to be plucked because the liability for the shooting falls on the party with the most money. Duh.

Speaking of “mandatory” insurance...

As a lifelong runner, I face lethal risks every day from a politically protected social class of homicidal bike riders.

I wouldn’t mind imposing mandatory insurance - and mandatory prison sentences - on those recklessly indifferent perpetual teenagers.

The thug who robs you on the street isn’t going to buy liability insurance. This kind of thing is another way to take guns from non-violent people and keep them in the hands of violent criminals.
And that is their intention.

This would discriminate against poor people. Would we have to have government subsidies for liability insurance for poor people?

We need a “political Risk Protection Act”, where politicians are required to $100,000,000 million in political malfeasance insurance.

If they fail to do so, the are forever banned from holding office at any level, any government job, any lobbying job, any job with a company that does business with government at any level and 20 years in prison.

"Energy" has nothing to do with it.

The Rule of Law has everything to do with it.

The U.S. Constitution needs to be restored to its original intent, including the 2nd Amendment.

Does Trump have the Constitutional knowledge to accomplish this or will he just do something Yuge?
