I’ve been consistent in opining this - but there are many FReepers who, for whatever reason, do not “get it.” Trump has broad and deep demographic appeal: Cruz does not. It is that simple.
Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. It’s understandable. I myself was duped by Cruz’s beltway theater performances for many years. Now I see him for the climbing careerist he is.
While I still admire Ted Cruz for his unbending resolve in the Senate, yet there is something about his speech patterns, facial expressions and word usage that strike me as both odd and annoying (”I might add,” “I might suggest,” “I might note,” etc.) Add to this the observation that Cruz tend to avoid prolonged direct eye contact when interviewing, as he will often turn his head off to his left and downward, while using these phrases, as if he knows he is being disingenuous ... I’m not absolute on that point, but something is definitely out of place - I just cannot nail it down.
However, I do get the sense that Senator Cruz often comes across as condescending or patronizing - and in that regard the comparison to “Eddy Haskell,” while comical, is rather accurate, in my opinion.
Now, perhaps I am too judgmental in this regard, but my gut sense is to avoid conferring the presidency on this man.

“
Me too.
