In any poll between two politicians, one very well known and the other unknown, of course the very well known one will poll higher.
Back in April last year for example, Hilary Clinton as polling at a mass 24% higher than Ted Cruz cause hardly anyone outside Texas had heard of him.

Today Cruz is running even with Hilary Clinton cause far more people know Ted Cruz from the highly TV rated GOP debates and the more they get to know him, the more they like him.
