No. The Cruz campaign forwarded a CNN report that Carson wasn't going to New Hampshire or South Carolina following Iowa. That's all.
It is true that everyone assumed this meant Carson was reevaluating his candidacy. That was my reaction to the CNN story as well. How was anyone to know that Ben just needed a change of clothes? Frankly, that's not a cover story that would have occurred to me in a thousand years.
It is also true that Steve King, a Cruz supporter, speculated on air several minutes later that it looked like Carson might be dropping out. That was, IMHO, an entirely fair speculation. Who would be dropping out after Iowa, who might drop out after New Hampshire, who will drop after South Carolina, etc. is a staple of campaign talk from all who are following the process. It is a perfectly fair topic of discussion. Given that Carson's camp had let slip his curious post-Iowa schedule, King's observation was entirely in order.
The Carson campaign should have gotten someone on CNN to update the broadcast story. That's what didn't happen.
Apparently the CNN story is true. As of right now, Carson has not held a single campaign event since he left Iowa Monday night. There are TWO more primaries within a month and he’s MIA.
It's as simple as that.
But the media and the GOPe want a Cruz/Trump fight, so they won't play the original CNN story.
This is working well for Rubio who has a shot at taking NH --especially if Trump and Cruz go at each other in tonight's debate, leaving Rubio looking "presidential."
Good try. Not buying it. Dirty trick from a dirty politician. I am from Texas. I know him.
