Cruz accuses Trump of proposing a single-payer system. Trump calls that a lie. Trump's public utterances on the topic, our only guide, reveal pieces of both single-payer and ObamaCare itself, sprinkled with wrong-headed demagoguery about leaving people to die on the sidewalks, followed by claims that his plan would foster efficient free market competition. This all sounds like socialism, but we can't be sure, leaving Cruz to take a stab at its more egregious manifestations.
Cruz speaks of disparate components at different times, such as health savings accounts, but never a comprehensive plan.
The bones of reform have been proposed for a decade: the old system plus tort reform, inter-state insurance and portability, plus health care accounts, for example. Roll Medicaid back to its pre-2010 parameters.
My impression is that the the candidates consider health care to be too much of a hot potato to get too specific. I would have expected this approach from Trump, but Cruz owes us more and better. Only Sanders on the Left has spelled out his healthcare proposal. We can't allow ourselves to be outdone by a socialist.
This caught my eye:
If somebody has no money and they’re lying in the middle of the street and they’re dying, I’m going to take care of that person,’ Trump said.
and
But . . . I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not.’

Im curious how Trumps frequent use of the word “I” compares to Obama’s
when will Trump spend some of his billions to build and operate a non-profit hospital?
I think the only rebuttal from Trump to Cruz was saying he supported Obamacare was a lie. Has Trump ever said he is against universal health care?
Trump was interviewed by the Chicago Tribune in late June of last year where he goes into detail about healthcare. I don’t believe this Trump interview was ever reported in the paper. He wants insurance coverage ‘portability’ across state lines along with a market based health system. He believes in innovation to overcome the cost problem. Go to 55 minute mark in this long interview.

Of course Medicare is “growing out of control”...millions of dollars were taken from it to support Obamacare.
“...Neither Cruz nor Trump have fleshed out their healthcare proposals...”
You’re saying that Cruz hasn’t “fleshed out” any healthcare proposals? Are you forgetting the “Health Care Choice Act”?
