Was she trying to be “friends” with her daughter or just trying to get revenge on her ex? Seems more the revenge factor here. At least that’s how I see it.
The girl was 12 at the time so I will guess she was getting either texts from an older boy or man that set the father off.
God bless you for sticking it out for your kid’s sake.
They will need you...and at some point as they grow older, at least some of them will figure it out and you will be a blessing in their life.
You are probably right about a big dose of “revenge” being a part of it.
Ex-wife should have been investigated by Child Protective Welfare for parental neglect. Once embroiled in that governmental legal web, she’d give some thought to her actions.

I took my daughter’s cell phone with no end date given. She was almost 16 at the time.
Without going into details, I told her that a behavior change will do 2 things for you ... get the phone back and maybe you can use my car after you get your license.
After she got over the initial period of being super po’ed, I have never experienced an attitude turnaround quite like she went through. She was the last of 3 kids, so I did have some comparison data.
Thanks Jeff. That was many years ago. He’s older and married himself now. I think it mattered that I fought for him.
