2016 presidential race will be nail-biting, frustrating, both back-biting and back-stabbing, and long before it’s over, even soul-searing---but not fun
Something’s not right. (Pun fully intended)
With a voice ringing out with barely restrained pulse-racing excitement, Sarah Palin endorsed Donald J. Trump for president yesterday, breathily adding about the coming election: “It’s going to be so much fun!â€
Running the risk of being shot down by a trillion digital smiley faces, some dare to suspect that Election 2016 is going to be anything but “so much fun!â€
I am already tired of it.
It will be fun if you don’t have a dog in the hunt, which I don’t.
I view this election as akin to voting for a new captain of the Titanic. i.e. I have more pressing issues, like building a life raft out of deck chairs.
Not surprising, simply because the system based on the big, paternalistic programs is going to collapse and die under its own weight, not terribly dissimilar from what happened in the Soviet Union and East Bloc.
Your analogy is wrong - America IS the deck chairs. The WORLD is the Titanic.
This election, therefore, is about who gets your deck chairs.
Yes. I strongly agree this is global. I guess it’s more akin to deciding on a new chef. My deck chairs are my 32 acres in rural KY. Bought the first 12 two weeks before the 2008 election and moved here from Seattle in 2011.
The unraveling is obvious, but I confess it is taking longer than I anticipated. This is where my tag line kicks in, though. ;-)
The last election we won easily was in 1988. We have been struggling since. Even 2000 and 2004 were barely wins. So we are used to tough races. We will finally do better then winning the Presidency by 1 state since 1988.

Exactly right. I’m a Trump supporter because I believe him to be that last best hope. He’s got the chutzpah to fix things, and may well do so if he follows through on his promises.
If not, it’s just gonna bring on the iceberg that much faster. I’d rather hit the reset button now, while I’m still young enough to help.
I was starting to get tired of it a year ago.
