Why is there not a recall election for Ryan? He obviously played his constituents for fools to get elected. Recall his arse.

Supposedly, the constitution does not allow the recall of federal elected officials. This is a matter of interpretation, and that is how the power structure in Washington interpreted it many years ago.

I think the states need to clarify this issue with a constitutional amendment and ensure federally elected officials can be recalled, along with the mechanism to do so. This needs to be a very simple ballot; a simple yes or no answer; no other candidates on the ballot for this official to campaign against, and a very short period of time between the certification of the petition and the election. The federal govt, not the state, should pay for this election. Recall should be done petition of the people of the congressional district for their representative; for senator either the state legislature or the people should be able to remove a Senator. In both cases , and the bar should be high, but not impossibly high.

I also think there is no reason why we can’t increase the number representatives significantly, and why not three senators from each state? One elected every 2 years. Our country is much larger, there are many more states, and communications and travel are far better now than when this country was founded and the constitution written.

We also should require Supreme Court Justices to stand for election, to be confirmed by the people at the next federal election after the initial appointment, and every 12 years thereafter. Life expectancy is significantly longer now than it was when the constitution was written.
