I've seen a number of references to Putin's ideology of striking first if a fight is inevitable. True or not, it will play in the thinking on both sides.

I'm not sure what your point is. If you're saying Obama will back down, sure, but Putin won't if pushed too far - he'll launch something - somewhere - if only tactical. Then the ball will be back in Obama's court.
If they're still in Turkey, I'd say good defense - plus they're easily disabled - time permitting. The real problem might be our CIC turning them over, or arranging for such, to his pal Erdogan.

Other than what offers him a smidgen of plausible deniability, you're absolutely right. That's why he says he's fighting ISIS, but really he isn't by any stretch. When the mask finally comes completely off, the pretending will stop and we will have been left defenseless.
I think that's because we have so many organizations that want to take over America.
It's like a lion after having crippled it's victim. All of a sudden there are a variety of other animals hanging around trying to sneak in and get a piece.
I know this question has come up, but it seems no one pursues it to get the answer.
Why does Obama insist on calling it ISIL when everyone else calls it ISIS ?
