I never leave my house unarmed—and I live in a “safe” area.
Many are. Two sheriffs in my area have lowered the cost of the Concealed Carry.
Me neither. I just upgraded the daily carry gun from a Ruger LCP to a Ruger LC9s. Thought I needed the additional “oomph” that the 9mm has over the .380
Ditto - I live in a reasonably safe area, work in a facility patrolled by armed guards and dogs, and rarely go into the nearby city. But you never know when/where random acts of stupidity, evil, sharia, etc. are going to happen. That is why I carry all the time, even at home. I have a “first aid” kit in my car that goes far beyond the name. (I can treat significant trauma up to but not including intubation or administering blood expanders - yet). I carry even in places marked no firearms. In this state, such signs on regular commercial businesses carry no legal force. They are basically the same as “no shoes, no shirt, no service” - a statement of company policy not law. So I carry. I noticed yesterday one business that had previously had a “no firearms” sign took it down. How about that, common sense broke out.
As do I. But one of life's great lessons is that trouble can come from anywhere at any time. Accordingly, there is never a ready weapon farther than three or four seconds reach.
Those who routinely close off their awareness by filling their ears with iPod ear buds or similar distractions will soon or late be in for some unpleasant surprises.
