There is a lot of hot rhetoric here on FR, which is as it should be. But none of Trump's defenders think he is "conservative" on a litmus test of issues. In fact, on such a scale Rubio is probably "more conservative."

But then you get to two key components that take priority over everything: 1) immigration and 2) does he love America over some international order?

When these are prioritized, he is clearly first with Cruz very close.

But then you add "trust" which is not only do you trust him to do the right thing but do you trust that he will have the financial, party, and mental independence from the "machine" to do what we want to see done? I think on this he is well above Cruz.

The comparison isn't perfect, but in WW II the British chose Churchill even though they (wrongly) didn't like any of his social philosophy because they needed to survive first. Our priority is to survive this invasion from two fronts.

Your post is quite right.....

....as only God determines who attains the Presidency, my hope resides there.

I so want it to be Trump.....and personally believe ( and have from the start)
that God has chosen this man to lead us through this terrible time.

He can be finessed.....I believe his ‘tone’ will comply with most expectations once he is ‘in’.....without losing the fierce protection he assumes over this nation!
...I am witnessing a groundswell of HOPE from We, the People!!!....and I’m certainly one of them!

Boy do I disagree. For one thing he has to bring congress with him. You think congress doesn’t like Cruz?
Cruz is the man who is what he is yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Trump lost me, I figure he will lose a lot more. I am so sick of hearing him whine. He may be worse than Bambi.

Disagree on your conclusions. I don’t trust Trump to tie his shoes. He has DONE nothing in his life that would demonstrate that he would be led by sincerely held conservative beliefs.
