Hmmm. Yeah, the Yugoslav army seemed to have an abundance of cosmoline on hand. *sigh* I was hoping for something easy. Those kinds of chemical wrack my lungs anymore.
Cosmoline’s only virtue is that it stops time indefinitely.
I used a fridge condenser brush to scrub the ookum out of the stock slots. Soaked the metal parts in thinner. Ran the bore with a steel .30 cal rod.
Took a month for the turpentiny smell to go away but it’s a nice piece. Best quality of all SKS’s in my opinion.
