The ‘offended a god’ explanations are as good a justification today for the media’s memes as they were then LOL!
It’s remarkable overall that an ancient work of such length has survived, but I attribute that to the fact that it has remained popular down through the centuries “in states unborn and accents yet unknown!” :’)
