That was a key fail on her part: the notion that there will ALWAYS be a “top 1% which can pay for all of this”, not grasping his point that if you take enough from them they’ll quit earning anything taxable.
Such people seem to believe that money is a perpetual natural resource, just there for the taking (contending that “the rich” are just taking more than their fair share). They don’t grasp that wealth is variable and perishable, that if you take away the incentive to create it then (A) people stop creating it, and (B) what exists gradually decays.
