Probably too many debates and too close together.
Trump doesn’t need to “win” a debate, he just needs to show up and be himself. If he does that, he holds his lead.
The winners would be the ones who reached out and made an impression. That would be Cruz, Fiorina, Rubio, and Paul. Of those, Cruz and Fiorina made the biggest gain, in my view.
I think people are starting to pay attention to Cruz. Until now, non-political people have not paid him any mind. I think that is changing.
If you're talking about the fourth debate, though, I can't help you.
Many satellite and cable packages do not carry Fox Business, which made FBN a curious choice as a venue.. Out of 4 consumers in our family circle, we were the only ones who have that channel. It was surprising that 13.5 million even found the debate.
-1 Fourth, not Forth.
I’m guessing that after three shams of a debate, people decided it wasn’t worth their time to watch. They just weren’t learning anything about the candidates to help them make an informed decision. Too bad, because this fourth debate was actually far more informative than the previous three.
It’s no surprise, and yes I believe most minds are made up.
One thing is certain, if Kassich and Fiorina are still in next debate, fewer still will tune in.
Maybe the absolute zoo that the third debate became turned people off? Of all the debates I think only this last one was any good.
No. Fox Business is not carried by as many cable outlets. Fox Business has a smaller footprint in the market so fewer people have access to see the debates.
“The debates will continue until morale improves...”
I think people are bored, many have decided on a few candidates and are waiting to see how the field narrows. Viewership will rise when its down to about 3 and people have to re-evaluate.
“are minds made up?”
Possibly. But also people realize that old ground is now being repeatedly replowed. For instance, did you know Kasich’s father was a mailman, that Kasich was governor of Ohio, and the he claims he produced a budget surplus as governor of Ohio?
No.
It all doesn’t mean much of anything until February.
As usual, Coach is NOT right. This blog has to have some of the worst political analysis out there.
Fox Business channel was very close behind the numbers CNBC got, all the while being available to fewer viewers - and because it is only 8 years old many people would be trying to find it for the first time. Additionally, something like 1.4 million people watched the streaming coverage online.
Once again, the online polls do not matter. They are worthless. If you believed those polls Ron Paul should be President because he consistently won them (along with most straw polls). How many times does this need to said? And if you DO believe these worthless click bait polls, it is STILL not good news for Trump as he did not register on them as well after the 4th debate as he had the previous ones.
This blog should simply be renamed “Vote Trump” because no matter how many words the entries are they all amount to the same thing.
And the answer is no, people have not likely made up their minds. That will happen as we get close to actual voting in the primaries.
Let’s face it. They are boring.
And Fox business is not as widely distributed as the other hosts.
It will pick up as we get closer. But we need to start clearing the field and limiting the stage to five candidates.
My mind has been made up when Trump went to the border and gave that speech...
100% behind TRUMP!!!
I want to save America and I don’t want killary in the white house...
I could not get it on Comcast in NJ.
I only watched the first few minutes of Debate 3. By then I knew that it would be a gotcha contest and snark fest. I was giving a pass to Debate 4 when my wife told me I should watch because there was some substance to the questions. There may have been a lot of viewers like me who were just tired of the nonsense.
My mind is made up.
1) Cruz - my choice from day one
2) Trump - I am beginning to believe he is serious
3) The Others - forget about those GOP pretenders
Cruz or Trump *might* turn this country around. None of the e-GOP would, they would continue caving in to the jackass party. Just the same old Shi’ite. And of course, the leading contenders approved by the American Communist Party would continue dictator Obola’s path of destruction.
I always thought 8 debates was 3-4 too many. They should have one more debate a couple of weeks before the Iowa Caucus and leave it at that.
I made up my mind long ago. Watching 4 debates has only confirmed what I already thought. I may or may not bother to watch any further debates. Certainly will skip the Faux News debate in Jan with the Axis of Evil moderating (Kelly, Wallace and Baier).
