Donald Trump was blunt. Repeatedly.

"The last thing we need is another Bush,” Trump said to a number of news outlets and in a number of quite public settings. “I’m not a fan.”

Mr. Trump’s assessment may be chuckled over or even dismissed by the mainstream media, not to mention Establishment Republicans. This would be a mistake – and a big one.

Alas, for former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, there is a real warning shot in Donald Trump’s words, and one suspects that both Mr. Bush and his Establishment allies are in for a serious awakening as the 2016 GOP presidential race comes into view.

Safely in the confines of the Washington bubble, barely a month away from an election that gave the GOP its largest House margin since 1928 and gained nine senators to take over the majority, GOP elites are awash in an angry backlash from the Outside the Beltway base over the “betrayal” (to use the words of a Drudge headline) of the House and Senate GOP leadership. I was disappointed that Sarah showed up to help the Roberts campaign, because, after all the establishment had done to fight her, she had no reason to help them. It is amazing to see how many republicans are in the pockets of the CoC. Rubio, for one. No wonder he will NOT back down on amnesty. He has totally sold out to them. He is expecting them to bring him the nomination.
