Wel, well, for once Politifact is showing some intellectual honesty

Now, if only they would debunk the "hands up don't shoot" narrative. Just a side note, the last claim about 9 of 10 of the poorest states being red. Remove NYC, Long Island, Westchester and Rockland Counties, NY a hopelessly blue state, doesn't fare well either.

You get a much more honest comparison if you plot the changes in deficit spending against which party controls the House of Representatives. Deficits tend to decline when the Republicans control the House, and grow when the Democrats control the House.

For the past 4 decades, that's been a far more reliable predictor.

The exception is 2000-2004. The double punch of the dot-com bust and 9/11 inflicted a lot of damage on economies throughout the world -- not just the US.

Since all taxes and spending bills are supposed to originate in the House, it shouldn't be a surprise.

Certainly, the person in the Oval Office is a contributor factor, but according to the US Constitution, spending priorities are not the President's responsibility.

BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!How in HELL can anyone say that obama has reduced the budget deficit, when he has not signed any budgets? OR, maybe 2 in 7 years? obama does not work on a budget.THAT is why Congress does not matter much any more,Congress is supposed to handle the nations checkbook, but they dont now. obama has taken the power of the purse away from them.
