Kc Royals beat Astros 9 to 6 Just now!
Kansas City here we come!
Go Royals!
Still have my 1985 World Series stuff (team photos, cards, bat but somehow my tee shirt disappeared - whoops lost in the flood of '98 here!
From out in AZ I am sure yelling at the TV as they do a great rally.
I have my ‘85 stuff as well. I was just planning what Spring Training game purchases I would make yesterday.
Hopefully, my daughter in AZ (Chandler) got to watch some of the game!
Let’s see, do I watch the Royals vs. Astros or Hillary’s mug-fest!
To show just how down-to-earth we Royals fans are, just for the heck of it I compared ticket prices at Wrigley and at Kaufman for the next playoff game. A box seat behind home plate is going for $590 at the K. A box seat behind home plate at Wrigley for the first home game of the ALCS is going for $5600.
Rush gets along with him, if I'm not mistaken.
I certainly don’t have a premium package on cable, just the medium, and I get all the playoff games in both leagues. Chiefs are another matter. Sometimes but not always.
After yesterday giving it back to Chicago, it really doesn’t matter for me now — Go AZ Cardinals!
About the comments about George Brett. When he was in his thirties, he was pretty full of himself. Although I can’t claim to “be acquainted” my impressions of him in small public settings is a more humble guy than he was earlier. That being said, he and the whole Royals organization deserve a kick in the ass for how they have treated Frank White.
I do have a passing acquaintance with Frank and he is a prince. As genuine a guy as you will ever meet. He was the soul of the Royals in that era in my opinion.
Certainly not those idiots at Wrigley.
As to Frank, I think there are three sides to that issue: I have heard from people I know and trust, both pro and con Frank, so I'm guessing it's somewhere in between.
The last time I was at Wrigley was a couple of years ago when I was visiting family in Chicago. In addition to being amazed at the ticket prices it seemed that every announcement was brought to you care of Such and Such, the official so-and-so of the Chicago Cubs. My cousin said that people go to the Cubs games just so they can tell their friends they were at Wrigley yesterday, and not necessarily for the game. Sad. Compare that with the K where the team goes out of its way to be family friendly.
Oh I’m sure he gets along with Rush, Rush is wealthy.
At a parade in KC one year Brett was on his horse. It was spooky and should have never been in the parade. He started yelling at the kids saying they were stomping their feet to loud. Just a little farther down the parade route the horse spooks again and turns to the crowd and of course the people scatter while he is yelling at them to stay still! Once he got the horse under control he stopped and tuned to the crowd and.yelled at them calling them all sorts of vulgarities.
My dad used to have to go to his house occasionally to do some high end work. Everyone that had been there warned everyone that came not to look at or speak to Brett or his wife. Dad being the kind he was said hi to him as they passed each other and he said George never acknowledged he was there. Dad never went back and refused to go when the company asked him to the next time.
I knew another story that happened in at McCormick and Shmicks restaurant but I can’t remember the details. Basically a kid asked for a picture with him and Brett tells the parents to control their kid.
Frank White is a great guy, always made time for fans especially children.
I have a business associate that was involved with him doing charitable work recently and he still had nothing but praise for him.
He was the Kansas City sport figure that I always pointed toward when making a point about class and good conduct for my sons. We went to over a decade of games when Frank played and when he reinvented himself as a power hitter late in in career it was awesome to watch.
