Both browsers now can log in here.

I deleted my Original Free Republic Bookmark...and that seems to have cured the problem that the Chrome Browser “was :having”

The Safari Browser was never “sent” to the comcast activation page.

You're correct. Most likely his MAC address isn't registered with Comcast (he did buy a new cable modem...) and unless you actually CALL Comcast and give them the MAC address so they can set it up in their system, just about the only thing you'll get is their activation page.

Comcast did a bunch of work in my area two weeks ago and however it happened, they blew everyone's cable modems right out of the water. Everyone who rented their cable modem got a new one the next day. I had to plug in my spare Cable Modem (I always have backup devices...) and call them to register it with their network.

Not the brightest bunch, those Comcast phone support monkeys......
