Cry me a frickin river. The only welfare we ever took was when we(my wife and I) would go out to the streets of Portland and trade a $5 bill for a cheese block and a quart of honey from the vagrants who lined up for all the free cheese and honey. You can feed a family of 4 if you know how to think!!
I remember eating oatmeal for several days in a row and gravy bread. We didn’t know there was no money to buy food. We loved the gravy bread and I still eat it today.
