Without knowing the specifics in this case I have to wonder why it is comedians are often personally such miserable people.

Most modern comedy is actually made up of saying very terrible things, scathing and contemptuous and mocking and foul, in a humorous way.

In other words, comedians are often not funny people, they just make you laugh. Sometimes, maybe all the time, despite your better judgement, or even despite the fact that you don't really want to laugh.

What they, the comedians, actually are, however, is often very angry or bitter people, with a very nasty mouth. Plus the ability to laugh while they are spewing foulness. People respond with laughter to deal with the stress of the resulting cognitive dissonance, not because they are amused.

Google Brian Regan. Clean comedy, observational, ironic.

Speak for yourself.

Some comedians may not be to your liking, but people have different tastes. You certainly have no magical ability to know whether other people are actually amused by comedians who don’t match your tastes.
