Israel is our number one concern there, behind our own national security.
The Iran deal is setting off a new nuclear arms race. ISIS is actively seeking nuclear weapons, and they already control a land mass as big as Syria.
Don't think in terms of borders. An enemy with ballistic missiles (guaranteed now for the Iranians through the Iran deal) doesn't need to invade us to destroy us. But they can nuke us from a distance. Or they could smuggle a nuke on an ocean freighter, and detonate in while moored outside Boston Harbor. They are not rational players, either -- this is not the Cold War. You can't negotiate with them. They MUST be annihilated to the point they don't have a functional organizational structure.

But our allies do, and they are forming new alliances based on the availability of oil or protection from their potential enemies. For us to be energy independent is a worthy goal, but it's unrealistic to think our allies can do the same. We can't afford to be militarily or diplomatically disengaged. That's what Obama's legacy is, and we are now paying the price.
