And so goes all godless societies.

Good article but be completely misses the real cause and rather examines the symptoms.

I do not think Mr. Greenfield knows the song Turning Japanese nor what it alludes to. On second thought, maybe he does...

Japan has no racial strife. In Japan you can be down on your luck and have to live in a lower class area but never do you have to worry about your neighbor hating you because of the color of your skin. They don’t burn down CVS’s in Japan. Those lower class Japanese have pride they may be poor by Japanese standards but they are Japanese. They keep their places clean and don’t rob each other. This applies to a lot of Asia.

South Korea and China are doing something that the Japanese in general chose not to do: become Christians. That eventually will make all the difference—and maybe, just maybe the Japanese will see it and the effects it has and be jealous.

American technocrats talk incessantly of beating China. But what is it that we're supposed to beat China to? The largest pile of debt? The biggest collection of light rail and solar panel plans? The lowest birth rate and the most homeless farmers? A country should move toward the future...

The 'most stuff' experiment is ending...

Several years ago a journalist interviewed some Japanese high school girls and the question was:

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Many of the answers were “American”.

I agree with many of Greenfield’s points and am glad that I live in the South. Good values are celebrated and practiced in this section of the US.

As I write occasionally on my letters:

Address
Texas, by the Grace of God
