Daniel Greenfield Ping List Notification of new articles.
I am posting Greenfield's articles from FrontPage and the Sultan Knish blog. FReepmail or drop me a comment to get on or off the Greenfield ping list.
I highly recommend an occasional look at the Sultan Knish blog. It is a rich source of materials, links and more from one of the preeminent writers of our age.
FrontPage is, a basic resource for conservative thought. Lou
Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam.
I really think so.

I remember the 80’s, when we all thought Japan was going to take over Hawaii and end up ruling the world financially instead of militarily. Michael Creighton wrote an excellent book called “Rising Sun” about corporate Japan, which rang true back then, but is largely irrelevant these days.
This article made sense to me.
Out here in flyover country, at least in the South, values are still here. The Bible belt is alive and well. We are in a seething rage at the elites, but we still believe in the Founding principles. Lots of babies being born too.
And so goes all godless societies.
Good article but be completely misses the real cause and rather examines the symptoms.
Far-called our navies melt away —
On dune and headland sinks the fire —
Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
Judge of the Nations, spare us yet,
Lest we forget — lest we forget!
...
For heathen heart that puts her trust
In reeking tube and iron shard —
All valiant dust that builds on dust,
And guarding calls not Thee to guard.
For frantic boast and foolish word,
Thy Mercy on Thy People, Lord!
I think you and I had the same thoughts on the article.
I’m from southern Missouri.
Your comment about the elites is right on.

RE: “I really think so”
Japan has no racial strife. In Japan you can be down on your luck and have to live in a lower class area but never do you have to worry about your neighbor hating you because of the color of your skin. They don’t burn down CVS’s in Japan. Those lower class Japanese have pride they may be poor by Japanese standards but they are Japanese. They keep their places clean and don’t rob each other. This applies to a lot of Asia.
well...he does touch on it but barely. I think his use of “values” needed to be expanded on, where they come from and based.... He didn’t go far enough.
South Korea and China are doing something that the Japanese in general chose not to do: become Christians. That eventually will make all the difference—and maybe, just maybe the Japanese will see it and the effects it has and be jealous.
The 'most stuff' experiment is ending...
Japan at least has the sense to carefully select their immigrants. Their welcome mat is not out for freeloaders.
Yes. That is a definite plus.
Several years ago a journalist interviewed some Japanese high school girls and the question was:
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Many of the answers were “American”.
I agree with many of Greenfield’s points and am glad that I live in the South. Good values are celebrated and practiced in this section of the US.
