Wardadday, I love you big but this time of year, they’re not after ‘guard dogs’.

If I was not thisclose to throwing up, just thinking about what I know, I would tell you *why* they want “German breeds” like Rotts, Dobes and Shepherds.

But even if I could tell you, you’d have the same nightmare images in your head that I’ve had, for decades.

All I can say, without screaming, is that they *want* them to have that “fight” during what they do to them.

I don’t leave mine alone in the car.

They do live to protect me but often, it seem like it’s the other way around.

I really appreciate you writing this.

I guess I am naive as Hell, because I have heard of none of this, but it makes sense.

Isis is such a beautiful shepherd too. I have people stop and tell me all the time how pretty they think she is.

Most of the time, they are wonderful people, but every now and then its people I would prefer just keep on truckin’, I do not want to know what you think.

I guess I need to understand better that we live in a world with sharks all around.

I won’t be taking her with me when I have to leave her out of sight. I know she will be disappointed, but that is a risk that is foolish to take.

Thanks kindly, Salamander.

Sheriff’s Dept and City police who patrol should and could cut into dog fighting rings by paying attention to surroundings and evidence.

I also have a pet I named Isis years ago. Now I’m ashamed to tell her name because of those savages today
... See my Isis on my profile page..scroll down. About 3/4 of the way.

Oh, a very pretty kitty ^^ I say tell her her name every chance you get. There is no reason to let the savages corrupt it.

I actually did not name my dog Isis. She came with that name when I adopted her from the rescue organization.

At first I did not like the name, but then I saw how well she responded to it, so I decided to keep it.

When I first adopted Isis, she was a walking skeleton of a German Shepherd. She had been abandoned in her previous owners yard and weighed only 52 lbs due to starvation.

She is now up to 71 lbs and is so beautiful. I really think her name fits her now.

I always try to make sure that her red name tag faces front so that I can see her lovely name and not my name, which is on the other side.

Her two nicknames are Nice Girl and Sweet Pea.

I’m so glad that God sent her my way. She is a true blessing.

As you know but others may not; Isis an egyption goddess. Shame those savages have made it a hateful ugly word.

I know you love your dogs as much as I, mine.

I wish none of the horrifying posts I made were true but in the decades that I’ve been rescuing dogs, I have seen things that I dearly wish I’d not.

There are evil, brutal, twisted people on this planet.

More of them than you’d imagine, probably.

I am sorry for the disappointment she will no doubt feel but the mere possibility of the alternative is *much* worse.

So sorry to be the bearer of such bad things.

:(

There was/is a program that pays out $5000 to info leading to the arrest/conviction of dog fighters.

It was very successful and made the people there paranoid as hell because they never knew who might rat them out.

Needs to be more of that done.

I call Seven, my hundred pounds of antisocial p*ss and vinegar, “Sweet Pea”.

Boy, does that ever get me some looks.

;D

None of my dogs have their names on their tags.

Makes it too easy for dognappers to get close to them.

All I want them to be saying if they try and grab them is “OMG! Call it off! Call it off!”.

My Mother was involved in a small dog rescue group. This is how I came to be aware of this. She also told about how the Amish were some of the worst when it came to puppy mills. Her group got quite a few dogs that the Amish would have discarded like trash for simple things, a limp, a lazy eye, etc. My Mother even went to Indianapolis to protest the puppy mills.

BTW, my Mother has been warning me to keep my cats indoors during Halloween for years. People are crazy out there.

Your mom is a good woman.

Here [and in many other areas] the Mennonites are heavily into puppy milling now.

The way they treat animals sickens me.
