Why not learn the top 3 language while he’s at it?

Java and C# are not very far apart when it comes to syntax and capabilities.

Heck C# is simply a derivative of C and C++.

That would be C/C++. It is the language used to produce the operating system and even the other compilers. If you program down to the metal, C/C++ is the only way to go.
