“The problem is that the police do not root out the bad cops instead they protect them.”
That’s a steaming pantload. Its a cold statistical fact that police departments fire more problem employees per capita at about 10 times the rate than MDs ever lose their license. About the same than attorneys are disbarred. More than tenured professors are fired. Through almost any professional licensed field, nobody fires at the rate police do. And that’s as it should be, but its annoying hearing the same Black lives matter propaganda here. Congress is utterly rife with crime and bribery, but they also close ranks. You hear all about the thin blue line, but never the while labcoat line, or the lawyer line, or the ivy league line. And Federal Law enforcement who always “watches” the locals almost never fires anyone.
Even more, most of the firings are the result of internal processes. Little known is that most firings are not the result of a citizen complaint, but most are normal internal firings for a variety of mundane reasons.
Pray for the day that doctors and lawyers self report and eliminate at the rate cops do. Cops and loyal members of the military, that is who gets fired.
BUMP
Yes the blue wall of silence is all make believe. /sarcasm.
Your statistic means nothing by itself. If you don’t take into account the baserate of “bad” lawyers or doctors then the rate of firing has no value. Doctors require 10 yrs of training, cops can be as little as 180 hrs. Not as many screw-ups last through ten years of training. McDonalds fires a huge number of people, does that mean it has the most competent workforce?
Secondly, the comparison is incongruent anyway. You choose the services of a doctor or lawyer and if you don’t like them you can refuse their service. Try refusing a cops service.
I’m not aware of powerful unions reflexively protecting all doctors, nor if one of them commits a crime do their friends and colleagues handle the investigation.
Just because a lot of cops get fired by internal processes doesn’t mean bad ones aren’t still protected. Similarly, lots of teachers are fired, but after a few years the bad ones tend to get protected.
