A great summation of the crap handed down to us by the GOP-e and the “criminal organization masquerading as a political party” known as the Democrats (H/T Michael Walsh - I just love that phrase) for the last few years. And very well written!! Thanks for taking the time to do this, GW.

However, I’m really not getting the same impression of the Donald that you are. I see little evidence that he “loves” America. I do see evidence of his grandiose personality and bellicosity pretty much every time he’s on TV. My impression so far of Trump is that he sees the Presidency as the final jewel in his crown of “look what I’ve done” and thinks that he might as well give it a whirl since what’s a billion here or there?

In short, it seems to me I see similarities between Trump and Obama. Not on their viewpoints, but in the view that they know better than EVERYONE else and we should elect them because they’re wonderful. (I’m exaggerating a bit here for effect.) I fear that instead of getting us back to the rule of Law, as Cruz has pledged to do, Trump will think “hey, that Executive Orders thing works pretty well” and we’ll get another term of a President riding roughshod over our Constitution. We can’t take another four or eight years of that. “A Republic, madam, if you can keep it.” Ben Franklin knew exactly what he was saying, and we’re starting to get down to the wire on that.

Again, thanks for taking the time to write. Well done. (Even if I disagree with your conclusions.)

Unfortunately, after 6 years, I have come to the conclusion that your evaluation of Trump’s motivation was correct. Big ego, got to prove to daddy he is the greatest. Unfortunately, after he allowed Fauci to sideline him from a possible life saving attack on Covid, Biden has made the same mistake which has cost over half a million lives. Fortunately, thirty years ago I read his book on Art of the Deal, applied some of the principles described which has definitely improved my bottom line.
