An informal survey of people using EBT cards in front of me at the supermarket check-out lane tells me that two thirds of them are buying food I can't afford and a majority of those are driving away in vehicles I can't afford.

Most people from around the country tell me that my experience is typical, not exceptional.

Damn straight; and the mileage. My 2010 already has 110K on it; give you an idea what I do to get to my job? (note, not complaining, I am gainfully employed).

I read a couple days ago a freeper here said in his neck of the woods some section 8 popped up paying essentially what (s)he did in mortgage every month. We are well beyond the tipping point.
