The kids here had almost no homework at all last year
I’m the product of the NYC public school system when it was actually pretty good. From what I remember, the only homework I had until 4th grade was producing a couple of book reports a year. And it was done in such a way that you needed math to get the cover right. (measuring letters and spaces between them)
When I hit 7th grade, it was 30-40 minutes a night, per class. High school was about the same. I went to school from 10-4:30, had practice till 6, ate and did homework from 7-10.
When my kids got to high school, I asked them where their textbooks were. My son pointed to his phone.
I don’t get it.
