The remarkable thing about it is the historical aspect. In the old west, the gunfights were fought with single action revolvers, some double after, and the hit rate was pretty good amongst those who were good at it.
I read that Bat Masterson was one of the best.
When you only have 6 shots to work with, you tend to make them count. The high cap semi allows one to lay down suppressive fire however which is known to be useful in combat.
