Now it’s just an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or being elected president.

An exactly true statement.

What percentage of US citizens know the difference? I’m afraid it could be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Laws are not passed for the common good. (the only legitimate reason for a law). They are passed to promote an ideology or to reward a group for their money and votes.
The election process revolves around big money, and is dominated by the media. Candidates are sanitized or trashed by the media, depending on party membership.
Democrats practice massive voter fraud.
Aside from that, our democracy works well.

The Founding Fathers never referred to the United States as a “democracy.” Who came up with that idea that we are?

We haven’t been a constitutionally limited federal government republic since the time of Constitution ignoring FDR, and arguably from the time of President George Washington.
“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)

What’s going on is that people are just now waking up to major corruption in the system. Its about time.

Um—The Constitution establishes the US as a representative republic, not a democracy.

The problem is not that we do not have a democracy, but that we do have one.

The half of the people who have below-average IQ are pretty much completely influenced by media, which in turn are owned and funded by a tiny few.

This is how democracy works and why our Founders emphatically did not want one.

Let us not fool ourselves by playing into the fallacy that democracy is some utopian, ideal form of government. It is nothing more than mob rule with paperwork, where the rubber meets the road.

We are a republic. At least that’s what we’re suppose to be.

I blame the schools. To much time spent teaching about Sally has two moms and not enough history. Even many of our Government do not understand that the United States is not and has never been a Democracy.

It’s possible we are no longer a republic, certainly.
