Well, it does have to said that living on an island with only one species of snake with a mildly miffable attitude, you do tend to have a strange reaction to any snakelike object that isn't on the expected reptile list.
But to wait an hour without using a shovel on the thing is a bit ...of an over reaction.
The Adder bite is not usually fatal if you aren't allergic to it and in good health.
The anti-venom can be dangerous if the Adder only gave a warning bite and didn't actually inject the yellow muck.
And yes ,every Hospital in this Socialist paradise keeps a stock of Adder antidote in the fridge.
I can think of other antidotes they should keep, but that is for another thread. :)
