Donald Trump defends his comments about John McCain only being a hero because he was captured. Trump defended his remarks stating that there were many others that were there and they did come back and they get no recognition while McCain gets all the praise and attention and the others are ignored.
Trump goes on to day that John McCain has failed the Vets because even though he is a Vet and he is in the Senate, still nothing has been done to help the Vets with their healthcare. The VA healthcare continues to be sub-standard care, leaving many Vets without healthcare.
John McCain had started the "war with words" by attacking the people of Arizona who had attended a rally for Trump, calling the supporters "crazies". McCain felt that since they were supporting Trump, they had to be anti-immigration and so he referred to them as "crazies".
Trump responded to McCain's name calling by stating that he finished last in his training and was only a hero because he got caught. Trump feels that all of the troops should be getting the recognition instead of just McCain.
Trump states that the only reason these GOP candidates are calling for him to step out of the campaign is because they are doing poorly in the race. Graham, Jindal and Perry are the 3 that are speaking out the most and they are the ones that are in the last places.
The GOP candidates should probably stay out of it and let the people make the decisions as to who is in and who is out.

John McCain has done more damage to Republicans, the Republican party and to conservatives over the past 20 years than anyone other than Obama.
In 2008 his despicable campaign team did all they could to undermine his own vice presidential choice.
I wish Trump would attack McCain for being a failure as a candidate, senator and conservative rather than for his war record.
Too many Republicans use the hero TOO loosely, just like Democrats call Gay “brave” for coming out of the closet. Theres nothing brave about calling yourself gay in today’s America. There’s nothing heroic to be captured
Saying McCain is not a war hero is bit provocative and could just as well gone unsaid. Unfortunately the comment has only served to detract from the real message which was spot on. The comments about McCain turning his back on veterans and the VA troubles is spot on.
Trump’s comment that McCain was more interested in Iraq’s border than Arizona’s is also right on target.
Trump is making the establishment look bad and the media is turning out to protect them. Fire at will Mr. Trump!
“... In front of an Evangelical group, he was asked if he ever prayed to God for forgiveness. His reply was something like he never gave that much thought. If you court their vote, might you not want to at least seem to think God is more important than Donald Trump?...”
I don’t think he should pander. Instead, I wish more candidates would throw these “gotcha” questions back in their faces. I would have preferred if he told the evangelical group, “I refuse to play gotcha-politics. I also believe matters of faith are best left out of, and untarnished by, the political arena. I’m not running for National-Preacher and I believe the Constitution forbids that. Next question?...”
I’d prefer candidates answer similarly about marriage, abortion and most any other social issue. In nearly all cases, they are matters not specifically addressed in the Constitution and as such are best left to the indiviual states. Doesn’t mean he’s pro or con, just means that as POTUS, under our current US Constitution, it’s none of his business.
He gave an honest answer.....
.......I’m sure the folks hoped for ‘more’....
but it was an honest answer
Jimmy Carter SAID he was a Christian
Bill Clinton carried his big big Bible to church....
I have no idea where George HW and George W Bush spirituality lies....
I just know George W tried really hard to give our nation to the illegals, and ridiculed Americans
...and his wife is pro abortion......
...so you decide
I keep praying for discernment and wisdom....
....and can’t help but like the guy, Donald Trump
Consider .....Cyrus the Great
Please anyone who is going to pass judgement on what someone did while being physically and mentally tortured daily is a a fool. If you want to k ow what he endured go find out, it’s all out there, and I doubt there are many men who could endure half as much without breaking.
I may not care much for many of McCains political stands on various issues, but anyone trying to judges he man for his actions while I’m caprivitiy is a loon.
With all that said this whole thing is trumped up nonsense, Trump is a bombastic self promoter, and I doubt highly he is serious about desiring to be president. I am glad he is out there bringing attention to the issue he currently is, and I am not offended by him saying he doesn’t consider McCain a hero, but those attacking his service are just fools as far as I’m concerned.
The word has become basically meaningless due to misuse and abuse
>>”Consider .....Cyrus the Great”<<
Am curious, you implying DT is like Cyrus the Great?
This is the bottom line. While McCain's "heroism" may be overblown, he did serve honorably and deserves thanks for his sacrifice and what he went through. That doesn't change the fact that he's one of the worst Senators in the Republican Party who'd be more at home with the Democrats and an all-around opportunistic sleaze in politics.
McCain's critics should focus more on the latter point and less on disparaging his military service. Does Donald Trump really think he would have done better as a POW than McCain did and not crack under torture?
[But some of his positions are telling...]
Pray for TRUMP. He could be our next President.
That being said, put your efforts behind TED CRUZ.
He is an approved worker of the faith.
Politically, McCain is despicable. There's plenty of fodder for any conservative critic to use against McCain based on his voting record in the Senate and the type of legislation he loudly championed. Instead of going after this, Trump decided to go the cheap ad hominem route. Typical.
.... while US vets get the short end of the stick.
“John McCain has done more damage to Republicans, the Republican party and to conservatives over the past 20 years than anyone other than Obama.”, add ALL of the BUSHES into this as well.
Reagan was a long time ago and a different battle space. AND you need to go watch the video of what Trump actually said and the context. OR does it get in the way of your preconceived notion?
