The penetrating truth of Ephesians 4:18-19 kept ringing in my mind as I read this piece.
One particular quote within this piece says it all. “she was embracing herself.” One of the reasons why this world is as depraved as it is, is because it’s quick to entertain and chase whatever promises to “entertain” the selfish, flesh nature. It first becomes an idea, then an attitude of “I’ll try anything at least once” and then goes on from there into action, maybe habit, and so forth. Meanwhile, as all of these dynamics of over indulgence, spoildness, and an “anything goes” mentality progressively strengthen, soul strengthening qualities become “malnourished” placing the decadent individual in a trap for which lust and carnal feeling overpower reason, discretion, and faithfulness.
This is an adolescent mentality, and we are seeing these adolescent mentalities grow even in older generations that should know better, and should be teaching the next generation the qualities and values they need to survive, thrive, and carry the next generation forward. With each day, I cannot, for the life of me, understand how my generation is going to carry the next generation forward, let alone carry society forward into the next era.
We need to guard our hearts and minds, because if we don’t we become reckless, careless, and feckless, “opening our minds” to the degree that it filters out no contaminants, which can easily become the cause of our downfall.
My wife should give me a swift kick where it hurts, plus refuse with me until I got a good STD testing session if I cheated on her, it’s that simple.
