For some reason I never got into Judas Priest even though I enjoy their music. There was something that just never clicked with Priest for me like Iron Maiden and Metallica and Slayer did at the time. They are fantastic band for sure, but I think I got a little turned off by their leather/glam style whereas the other metal/thrash bands of the time were just t-shirts and blue jeans and cool by their right. I still get happy when I hear classic Priest in the heavy metal bars though. I used to walk by Budokan every day until I changed jobs in May of this year. That’s a fun place to see a gig. I think the last gig I saw there was probably Neil Young on his Greendale tour. I’ll refrain from commenting on that album, but damn if seeing Neil Young and his band perform the entire play/gig, and then another hour and a half of Neil Young and Crazy Horse wasn’t totally awesome. Tokyo has the best metal / rock scene in the world in my opinion.
Could it be because JP’s lead singer came out of the closet?
Whole new meaning to “You Got Another Thing Comin’”.....
Same here because the guitars were never crunchy enough and Turbo Lover... WTF was that? That said, the concert I just watched was awesome. Crunchy as hell and the vocals were spot on. Gave me a new found liking for Priest.
