This Independence Day is a time to mourn, and rekindle righteous indignation toward tyrants [Vanity]

Don't get me wrong. We'll be barbecuing tomorrow and greatly enjoying the fellowship of family and friends.

We'll be lighting off a few celebratory firecrackers, as John Adams suggested we should do.

We'll go to the local fireworks display and commemorate our national liberty and independence with our fellow citizens.

But, on this particular Independence Day, something important is missing. I can't help but mourn, as traitors, cowards, wicked men, and oath-breakers run amok in American halls of power.

To me, this is not a time to celebrate, but to call to memory the righteous indignation of our forefathers at the lawless actions of tyrants. It's a time to remember the fact that though they did not want war - no sane man wants war - they were willing to have war if that was what it was going to take to remain a free, self-governing people, sovereign under Almighty God.

It is a time to ask ourselves, and each other: What exactly are you willing to do to restore and preserve what they were willing even to die for?

My flagpole is empty this morning...first time in about 50 years. Seeing MY flag flying above THEIR rainbow “White” House was the final straw. The flag no longer represents MY values. ...and to the Republic, for which it STOOD.

Someone yesterday accused me of “spitting in the wind” because I maintain hope for America.

No, I’m not spitting in the wind. As long as I stand for what’s right, I’ve got the wind at my back.

On the other hand, our opponents, no matter how it may look for the moment, ARE spitting in the wind, because they are fighting God and nature.

In today’s western society, the word freedom appears to mean that the Pub stays open until 1am as opposed to 11pm.

It means you can smoke MJ...

It means that anyone can get on the internet.

It means that big screen TV’s are on sale at walmart.

It means that they get a tax credit every year to aid in the purchase of that big tv.

The concept of liberty which as you said seems to have a deeper meaning such as the freedom to fail or the freedom to succeed according to your own desires and abilities is not in the public discourse.

Nor is the understanding that Liberty and it’s cousin freedom are given to every living soul and that we all give a small portion of that to government in order to have rule of law and a structured society.

Today, that understanding has been turned on it’s head to the point where these inalienable rights are doled out by government as a trade off to the governments promise to guarantee outcomes.

People today have entirely too much time on their hands and do not have to struggle much or at all to eat or to have a roof over their heads.

As a direct result of this, the value of these things have been superseded by simple possessions, like cars and electronic gizmos, clothing etc, and all that personal energy and time is turned onto one’s self in a very self destructive way.

Ancient biblical stories reflect the same sequence of events, as does the history of ancient Greece and what is termed the first democracy and then to the 500 year old Roman Empire that succumbed to the same exact sequence of social events.

I am rambling a bit, but history is quite revealing in that it tells us that what is happening is due to a human trait that leads societies to self destruction if there is not enough effort to prevent it.

I think that is what we have today and some say we are on the brink. Quite frankly, I believe we are far past that brink. I think that happened at the turn of the century when it became clear that there were far too many people riding in the wagon and fewer to pull it. With this understanding well known to everyone, absolutely nothing was ever done and in fact the situation is now becoming a giant snowball rolling to the bottom of the pit at breakneck speed.

So well and simply stated and so well organized... not rambling.

We have kept saying, “if the present course is not changed” for some time now... it did not change and the predictions have become the fact in my estimation.

“since the turn of the century”... probably and maybe before that the turn was made and now it is cemented.

Many of the kids today have little in the way of goals and vision... they are merely “satisfied” or “comfortable”... their self-actualization does not take the form of achievement or the extra effort to make things as right as possible.... “good enough” is good enough. What should be their labor and ambition is turned into wasteful behavior as you suggest.

We keep saying the “if this does not change then X” because we hold on to hope when hope is gone and just don’t want to admit that the IF has come and gone a long time ago.

“we all give a small portion of that [Liberty] to the government to have rule of law...” That has been a choice but it got out of hand... now it is a dictate and the Liberty is not given by choice it is taken but the veneer of “freedom” remains.

Thanks for a sad commentary but a good and thought provoking post. I have a friend who often says that “people are just no damn good”... he is right.

The commentary is sad because I am sad...

Having said that, I am a warrior and will fight to defend against what I see is a enemy and I’ll do that until I cash in my chips..

At the same time, I prepare for the worst and hope (albeit a small hope) for the best.

I am sad as well... very sad for our children and grand children... it is up to them now.

I am a warrior as well for the just cause and I am ready to fight, not talk, but without critical mass warriors will be picked off one by one in a meaningless sacrifice.

I have posted here before several times Kipling and a few lines from “if”:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you

This is it... hope without good reason to hope.

I am coming to the point in life where I have little to give but my life but I believe I am willing to do that if I believed it would make a difference for my prodigy.

We can pull out of this death spiral but it won’t be easy.

First — True the vote. Voting must be absolutely honest and clean. I’m still not convinced that Obummer won his reelection without massive fraud and cheating. Voting is for citizens ONLY and any hint of fraud must be savagely prosecuted and punished. Voter ID is a good place to start. (I’d also burn down the warehouse that holds the electronic voting machines, just because.)

Second — Vote. Staying home silences the only voice you have.

Third — Keep your elected man’s feet to the fire. The Framers gave us a unique new form of government, rarely seen in human history, where the people chose their own leaders. Amazing! But we’ve given the actual work of governance to politicians, because they’re the only ones willing to endure the humiliation inflicted by the press and the brain-numbing work. If we’re not willing to hold office, then we had better watch those we choose to do so.

And if our elected officials fail to represent the wishes of the majority, no punishment is too harsh. Use your imagination.

That is how elections are supposed to change things. And if the changes still aren’t enough, then the Second Amendment is our last resort. Pray to God that it doesn’t reach that point.

Well, I truly believe the LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist scum have overplayed their hand, and that, increasingly, there will be acts of civil disobedience against them in the near future.

I don’t know when, and I don’t know what the catalyst will be, but something is brewing.
