I understand, but I would rather have my house free and clear so when SHTF at least I won’t have some rapacious lender claiming my house is theirs. If I put the money in the market and the market tanks, I won’t have anything.

If you can’t pay your property taxes, brother, remember they can still get it.

Not that I’ve been able to even dream of what you’re thinking about. Not for a long, long time have I.

Think about that for a second. If you are tossed out of work and cannot pay your debts...do you think the same thing would be happening at the bank? The line of bankruptcies ahead of you would be miles long. The bank would be grateful if you stayed in their house and kept the property up. And they would have no one to serve you the papers.

I wouldn’t worry about that too much if you made it through 07-09, you will be fine. At least about your home.

Being out of debt is always a good thing. Wise move. Put aside some food and supplies as well.
