Neil Peart, the drummer behind the band Rush, has made it known that, as a bleeding-heart libertarian, he encourages people to support Democrats. [ ]
Rolling Stone notes that Peart's newfound beliefs appear to prioritize the bleeding-heart aspect over the libertarian one.
Speaking of the libertarian-oriented Senator Rand Paul, a 2016 presidential candidate, Peart allegedly told Rolling Stone it is very obvious that Paul "hates women and brown people. [ ]
Peart, who recently became a United States citizen, told Rolling Stone, For a person of my sensibility, youre only left with the Democratic party.

“Seems Peart is vying for priesthood in the temple of syrinx”
Well put.
The older he got the more liberal and anti-Ayn he got.
The first lines of that last verse had the maples unionizing against the oaks and their “grab(bing) up all the light” for photosynthesis. The solution, of course, is all about light redistribution. The oaks never got their argument in; Peart depicted them as passive and not understanding of the maples’ grievances, but frankly the oaks could have pointed out the advantage the maples had with respect to seeds that could fly anywhere in the wind and settle in the ideal spot, never mind not being victimized by squirrels and other rodents like acorns are.
I always preferred Brian Downey (Thin Lizzy) myself.
Wonder when he’s going to jettison his toys that may destroy the elder race of men.
Canadians cannot be trusted.
That was my thought as well. He's had to deal with a heap of tragedy.
That being said, he probably should've kept quiet on his changing political leanings. While everyone has the right to voice their opinions, Rush is in the business of selling albums and concert tickets and I can't think of a demographic less likely to vote for Hillary Clinton than Rush fans.
Rush is my favorite band, but like many other rockers lean a hard left.
Few get to take a years off of work to go ride motorcycle to deal with it.
Most people have to go back to a job a week after the funerals.
I'm sick of libs who masquerade as enlightened thinkers.
Longtime Rush fan, I should say “former” fan here. They lost me after telling Rush (Limbaugh) not to play their songs as bumper music after the “Fluke,” this cements their status as a band that is dead to me. I no longer financially support entertainers who insult my beliefs. That’s just me.
Were you by chance the one who won the red Tamas in the Modern Drummer contest?
