I am looking at this as follows:
These ferals are intentionally pushing the envelope because they are being manipulated into doing it. Why is obvious but forget the bigger picture. We live in a world where feral gangs of all colors are simply doing and taking as they please. ow when a cop gets rushed by such people, I think it is prudent to draw on them. When a mouthy little bitch does her best to act like a 400 pound beast standing in a place she has no business being, I WANT her put on the ground roughly and made to reconsider her place in the world. That place is not part of the Occupy Swimming pool party movement in a place she ‘feels’ she has the ‘right’ to be...and does not.
If people wish to play stupid games, the pain of their actions should be such that they learn not to play stupid games. There will always be Rambo cops. We are all human and cops are no different. But a cop that allows space to destroy or to ‘occupy’ is useless and more a danger to peace and order than Rambo Serpico.
Given a choice, I prefer dealing with the occasional overreach than the consistent failure to reach at all.

We can treat any “occupy” situation like we do any frat house party. This suburban pool party didn’t need to see anyone slammed to the ground or a gun pulled on them. It didn’t need an officer running through the scene screaming profanities about having to do his job in the sun with his gear on.
There are far worse scenes going on on college campuses every weekend, and throughout suburbia every night of the summer in towns all over the place. In the majority of those situations, police don’t lose their cool. I fully support the police response to those types of things, which will and do happen on a day to day basis. I don’t need a police force that keeps their citizens under control through violence, no. That’s the way of jack-booted thugs in control of the country. There is a middle ground.

Not when your average feral doesn’t have a middle ground and goes from zero to 1000 at random. You play to your audience. If your aydience is a group of entitles, mentally unstable violence junkies, you act accordingly.
Bu yelling and talking as he did, he may well have instilled the idea of “Do NOT F’ with me” from the get go in many. And quite possibly saved an escalation right there.
I have no tolerance for ferals of any color. I partied like a fiend in my youth. I had cops bring me home from places that had dozens of drunk kids. Not one ever pulled a gun. Not one raised his voice after the initial “Everybody park it!”. With ANY of us. Why? When the cop showed up, we respected what could happen and we respected them.
Today’s wild child types know no such wisdom. So they must be treated as what they are. Potential rioting participants or worse.
That’s where I’ll disagree with you. I don’t condone out of control groups of people, but I’ve seen them settled down even if there was yelling and screaming without the cops losing their control of themselves or making a situation worse. Even when maybe the crowds didn’t deserve such swell treatment. I’ve seen cops be reasonable humans in the face of stress.
I’ve also seen police officers overstep and pepperspray people who weren’t resisting, there was Kent State, there have been cops who do more damage than good. And we don’t need to have a martial police state to control the people we do have, “feral” or otherwise.
Well how do you control a herd of animals without rough tactics? It all comes down to that. Look at Balt, Chitown, South Central, Philly and any number of like areas. Words don’t work when you have people that are trained by the liberal Pavlovs to go feral whenever ‘dissed’ (when ‘dis’ = giving a legal command to mellow their asses out).
It’s all well and feel-good to want to anthropomorphize feral humans and pretend they are just like normal people. They are not. Thats why they are feral. They do not see good and evil, right and wrong as you or I do. It is a case of category error to believe otherwise.
No one likes thinking about it and the words are ugly. But they are true words. And shying away from admitting the problem is why it grows worse. It doesn’t matter if that feral is midnight black or Lilly white. You don’t don kid gloves or bring them to poetry recitals. You treat them according to their actions. When you have a body of evedence pointing to them being a danger to themselves, to you and to the neighborhood, you don’t go through an escalating 12 step program of increasing force. You gain immediate compliance before THEY go from zero to 1000 and burn another city down while you (the cop) contemplate white privlege and cultural differences.
Not too long ago I thought like you do. There was a place for that method. It is not ‘wrong’. Just wrong right now. Maybe once we get control of America back, there will be for it again. But not until.

Seattle has had a lot of crowds of rioters over the last decade or so, and I don’t support them, but the police haven’t been held out as not being able to control things without killing people. There are many many many neighborhood parties all over this country every damned day that police are called to where they aren’t slamming kids to the ground. Those aren’t reported on because they were handled appropriately. How much police brutality have you heard about following sports crowds getting out of hand and burning cars and stuff like that? The people who are out of control are dealt with and people didn’t die or get injured by police when there wasn’t cause for it. It happens thousands of times a day in this country, and when situations do go bad, it is worthwhile to look and see if police played a part in it getting worse.
Do you suppose they keep having riots and causing tens of millions of dollars in damage is related to the fact that they pay no price for their rioting? I do. It is basic human nature to push. When your a criminal, you keep pushing into increasingly more violence until someone stops you.
Seattle is a liberal utopia. Rioting happens because no steps are taken to stop it. In fact, the rioters announce their rioting well in advance to give the city time to set up news coverage and script the PD’s non-response. The cops then go out and stand there getting attacked by anarchists, the News bemoans the poor rioters and concessions are made to have more bread shipped to the circus next time.
This is an act of suicide for a country.
I don’t think a stepped-up militarized response is necessary with what is going on in the US at this time, no. I think what civil disorder and criminality we do have can be accomplished without out of control or overly militarized units.
11 of the 12 officers at that pool party are still employed. They were all presented with the same test and passed it and get to keep their jobs. Some people are not cut out to be cops, and we don’t need to physically beat down the average unruly mob to get it under control. Some people do attack police and do deserve what they get. Some people end up in police custody and receive treatment that when brought to the public’s awareness, causes them to lose their job.

Cops didn’t “get out of hand”/over react there at all! It began with an “infitada” of rock, bottle, and Molitov Cocktail throwing at the National Guard young men.

Yes, they are still employed. So are the cops that give Baltiferals space to destroy. Baltmore is still 8 digits in the hole, has increased violence since and is an example of what not to do.
Is it better to wait until a couple more cities burn or several hundered people are killed or to clamp down hard? There has to come a point. If you don’t think we are there yet, then how many cities do you feel need to burn or how many people die before that point happens? There must be a cutoff number.
We cannot have things both ways. We cannot softshoe this and solve the problem. It will eventually end in violence regardless. These people do not want peace or non violence or anything we want. They want our money and our servitude. That is not going to change. They had victimology ingrained in them because rather than stop that as it happened, we softshoed that issue as well and it mutated into this one. So again, if not now, then when?
Do you REALLY want the scum to be treated with kid gloves, when they were terrorizes small children and the adults at the pool they had NO right to be at and had also beat up the guards there?
And that 20 year old "party thrower", also attacked a white female resident of the neighborhood and bragged about it and posted it to FB! But the news hasn't covered THAT.....has it ?
