According to a Tuesday story in the UK edition of the International Business Times, Neil degrease Tyson, the celebrity astrophysicist and media personality, advocated a space race between the United States and China. The idea is that such a race would spur innovation and cause industry to grow. The Apollo race to the moon caused a similar explosive period of scientific research and engineering development.

Is he going to pay for it?
Otherwise, he’s just another liberal idiot.
We’d staff it with 50% Chinese nationals who would steal the work and send it home. Or we’d forget to secure the communications network and they’d waltz right in. Or they’d make a “donation” to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation and Hillary would have us simply hand over our work in exchange. Jonny Chung would return to his nefarious deeds for the Chicoms.
Seriously, this worked in the 60s, but would be a total disaster fifty years on. The author is an uninformed idiot.
We would lose the race. The National Muslim Outreach Agency no longer remembers how to put payloads into space.
China would win.
He’s so friggin ‘progressive ‘. Cosmos so politically bogus, I went from thinking ‘this guy is ok’ to hating the guy.
The Obama Legacy in Planetary Exploration
It is frustrating, at a time when other nations are in ascendancy in space, that the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama seems committed to undermining the nation's own solar system exploration program...Over the course of the current decade, most operating NASA planetary missions will come to an end. Under current administration plans, the U.S. footprint in the solar system will radically shrink, and the nation's capability to resurge when, and if, resources become available will be crippled, perhaps permanently. This will be the legacy of the Obama administration the loss of a crown jewel of American science and technology.
No way. Not unless we can build solar and wind-powered boosters.......
Having more technology for Generation XBox to worship isn’t going to change human nature.
Getting into a techno pissing contest with the Chinese won’t solve anything.
Space race? NASA doesn’t even have an operational manned launch vehicle.
Why did Nixon advocate Apollo-Soyuz?
Once the Dem’s figure out how to register Martian voters....
We can’t, we have no money. People think this guy is smart.
Nice collection, thanks for posting.
Ever notice that progressive buzzwords and bullshyte don’t launch manned spacecraft into orbit?
There. Fixed it.
>>We cant, we have no money.
"from each according to their ability, to each according to their need"
Shut up and shovel, it's for the good of the collective.
That's the trouble with gurus: everyone thinks his guru is smart.
One of the pieces of blather I read in this article is that he would hope such a space race would spur industry. What a crock! Leftists never hope for that; they hope for government expansion, period. Now, in parentheses, somewhere before the period (or inside one of those bubbly clouds they use in cartoons to show the guy's secret motives), it should say: "I would hope that this would help us find LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE, maybe twice as fast". Finding life out there is the humanist's ultimate pipe dream. You'll notice the phrase inevitably occurs in any rationale-statement of these agenda-scientists.
Most of these guys aren't fully-fledged scientists at all. They are mainly propagandists.
