At this point, I think the show will outpace the book, and bring the story to an end. IIRC, it’s been booked for 7 seasons, but us readers are still waiting for book 6.
It’ll be kind of sad if it happens that way, as there are a number of storylines that I was hoping would make it into the show, and I’m curious how their stories will end.

He said that there is a good chance he’ll have book six finished before the end of this year.
No idea about 7 though.
I think GRRM can finish book 6 by the end of this year or perhaps early 2016. He has released several sample chapters already.
