Technically, we can’t call it a “betrayal” since they’re not on side anywise.
I dropped my a family member off at the Piedmont Triad International Airport for a flight this week. Right in front of the terminal there are reserved, and free of charge, parking spaces for Senator Richard Burr (R) and Congresswoman Virginia Fox (R). In addition there are reserved parking spaces for the Airport Authority. Why can’t our elected representatives pay to park in the parking garage like the rest of us when they fly off to DC? What makes them entitled to free curbside parking in front of the airport terminal.
For us little people, who paid for the the airport through our tax money, there are a few spaces in front of the terminal to drop off friends and family with parking meters at the rate of 25 cents for 15 minutes. For those departing on a flight, there is a parking garage and parking lot where spaces are rented for a daily rate.
This is more evidence our GOP elected officials are members of the governing elites first, servants of the Chamber of Commerce second, and then representatives of the people during the three months before an election.
It is telling that our GOP representative in Congress accept the benefit and feel no shame in using it.
We do have a nobility in 2015.
Yeah, well, they pretend to be, lying about it, which makes it a betrayal.
