Yeah. In my next novel I’m (slowly) writing, set a decade or so in the future, the USA is a totalitarian police state, a total control grid, virtually the USSA. The protagonist is an expat who must live outside of America. I didn’t want to conclude “What I saw at the coup” so dismally. It could go either way.
