No, this is not an April Fool's gag. I had not heard of this prior to today and wondered if any of you Trekkies out there were aware of this.
I actually found this by a reference to "Star Trek Continues", and other webseries continue to appear as I search.
Comments, Trekkies?

Many thanks -I was looking for more information about that! :)
I have read other comments about the four-years-war, but had not yet come across any information about it and this link is quite helpful in that regard.

I've watched both. I find them fascinating.
There's a 'professional fan-based' movie coming up this year called "Axanar". It's about the decisive battle between the Federation and the Klingons in the Four Years War, which takes place about two decades before the TOS series. It features many actors who have done Star Trek TV series in one form or another, including Gary Graham, J. G. Hertzler, and Tony Todd.
They did a short film called 'Prelude to Axanar' that you can watch on YouTube. It's done like a documentary, with 'interviews' interspersed with some very good CGI. It's meant as a lead-in to 'Axanar'.

The mirror universe episode they made, which happens right after Kirk beams back to his normal vessel was AWESOME

they say it nearly finished, they are cleaning up the color and all that. All the VFX is in the can.

There was one a few years ago that featured some actors from the original series, including Walter Koenig. The first episode featured a gay wedding in the Enterprise chapel, so I never watched any more of it.

There wouldn’t be “gays” in the 24th century.

I had an idea once for a series set on a private owned starship during the dominion war that gets a letter or marque and later gets drafted to fight the dominion war.
It would be unapolagetic about being capitalist conservative.

Sounds like a good idea, could at least be a story if not a show

I’m easily pleased. Just make something different for a change.
