I know there are some Trekkies out there and thought some of you might find this interesting. From the site:
"STAR TREK CONTINUES is a critically-acclaimed, award-winning, fan-produced webseries the brainchild of long-time Star Trek: The Original Series fan and producer, director, actor, voice-actor, musician Vic Mignogna.
STAR TREK CONTINUES is proud to be part of Trek history, aimed at completing the final two years of the original five-year mission. After mounting a successful Kickstarter campaign, the show is already making waves and attracting guest stars such as Michael Forest, Colin Baker, Jamie Bamber, Lou Ferrigno, and Erin Gray as well as cameos by Star Trek alums like Marina Sirtis and Michael Dorn."
Seems like something to while away a bit of time while remembering the old series.
I have seen this and it is true to the original. Sort of campy because they don’t have the big bucks. It would be neat to see them expand their effort.
Well, they certainly have the cheesy set, corny dialog, and background music down cold from the original series.
I’ve been watching it from the very beginning! 3 episodes IIRC.
Better than any of the other reboots as far as I’m concerned! So cool watching Scotty’s son, Grant Imahara and the others.
Better even than the original.
Hope it continues.
Erin Gray? Okay, you have my attention.
I am looking forward to the “Axanar” project’s final film. The teaser video, done in the format of a futuristic History/Military Channel sort of retrospective, is very good indeed.
Well, when you think about it, the original started out pretty campy as well. Not to mention the gravitas *cough* and range of expressions *cough, cough* that William Shatner brought to the set.
The sets, costumes, props are all first rate and so is their special effects such as the ships. The acting is, of course, amateur (its all volunteers) but not bad.
Their alternate universe episode was pretty awesome.
I thought the sets were quite close to the original as well, complete with constantly-changing indicator lights in the background that serve no discernible purpose and sound effects.
You mean the Official Angst-Enhanced Pregnant Pause?
(Known in the industry as the “Shat-Stammer.”)
Yes, I thought that was Grant there. *smile* Now if they could just convince Kari Byron to come onboard as well...
It was only campy in hindsight. I remember watching the series as a kid and not thinking it was campy. The sets were low budget, but compared to what else was on at the time, it wasn't too bad.
Today it looks extremely low budget and campy to us, but I think this series pays homage to the original very nicely. It maintains the look and feel without trying to make fun of it, or taking it too far.
And I-liked-William-Shatner's........Acting-style!
Ok Mr. Smart Guy. *YOU* try to monitor the Forward Torpedo Bays, Phaser Banks and Jeffries Tubes without them.
Yes, among other things such as the Dramatic Gestures. I have not seen it all yet, but I am seriously hoping there are no more of the truly horrible ‘fight’ scenes like the ones Shatner was famous for, and made all us martial-artists wince at how phony and staged it all was.
Kari Byron....
YES the green slave girl of Orion!!!!
Photoshop anyone?????
the brainchild of long-time Star Trek: The Original Series fan and producer, director, actor, voice-actor, musician Vic Mignogna.
Isn’t he too short to play kirk?
OK, I can try. First write a shell script in Bash, then write it into Assembler for the x86 instruction set, and ask someone for a generic bargraph indicator script I can use to display status on the monitor, probably the dashboard panel with a tiny icon and background audio warning indicator.
Would have been a great match, but they already have a green girl in episode 02, “Lolani”. Maybe as a Princess Leia in a slave-girl outfit on a desert planet. Suitably chained, of course. *grin*
