So-called religious freedom laws in Indiana, Arkansas and other states are merely thiny veiled discrimination that harkens back to the days of segregation, according to Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Theres something very dangerous happening in states across the country, Cook wrote in a Washington Post op-ed on Monday.
The days of segregation and discrimination marked by Whites Only signs on shop doors, water fountains and restrooms must remain deep in our past, the head of the worlds largest company wrote. We must never return to any semblance of that time.
The op-ed from Cook, who is gay and grew up in Jim Crow Alabama, served as one of the fullest throated criticisms to date of the rash of state laws, which claim to protect peoples religious freedom but which opponents say would allow businesses to discriminate against gay people.
Last week, Cook had tweeted his opposition to a law signed by Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R), known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
Pence, a potential White House candidate in 2016, has rushed to defend the law. Over the weekend, he pressed the importance of his states hospitality and said that the law would stand.
In recent days, tech companies including Yelp, Salesforce and Angies List have opposed the law, and the NCAA pledged to reconsider holding future events in Indiana if the law was allowed to stand.
Americas business community recognized a long time ago that discrimination, in all its forms, is bad for business, Cook wrote.
"Thats why, on behalf of Apple, Im standing up to oppose this new wave of legislation wherever it emerges."
Cook doubles down on stupid.
You are not allowed to refuse the orders of the state!
The Apple CEO had better start playing more Steve Jobs and less Bawney Fwank.
I buy computer hardware and software from his company, not advice on boinking another guy.
Cook is one dangerous faggot.
It’s the Indiana law the same as the federal law that Bill Clinton signed?
MLK helped give discriminating (freedom to choose) a bad name. But we as individuals have every constitutional right to choose and discriminate however we want.
The only constitutional limitation on choosing or discriminating is prohibition of STATE SEGREGATION laws against blacks (14th Amendment).
There is NO constitutional limitation on individual discrimination AT ALL.
A state can discriminate against gays or anyone else except blacks.
Apple’s CEO wants to get Apples name in the press.
The WaPo opinion piece is just an Apple advert wrapped in social commentary. With WaPo providing the space for free.
Hillary’s husband the serial rapist signed the federal version of this law when he wasn’t busy raping girls
And Obama voted for the Illinois version of it when he was there!
Try again retard lefties !
Next thing you know, the gheys are going to head to their own bars and segregated bathhouses.
Oh...got it...sexual deviancy laws are like Segregation, Timmy
Got it
Not being able to stifle the urge when you see a little boy makes you part of a nation deserving of legal protection, right Tim?
Be consistent you sodomite!
I’m wondering why shareholders aren’t out to muzzle this guy before he kills the golden goose...
Cook utters nonsense. This country has been good to big business. Now big businesses, at least some of them, are turning against it, fighting our core values, one of them freedom of religion.
Like the 19 states and federal government which already has this legislation? I'm sure you'll be taking on Clinton soon for signing this...
So now high dollar corporations feel justified in telling individual states how to write their laws. They’re relying on the momentum of dumb emotion, the same dumb emotions that have “Obama-ed” America in a scorched earth kind of way.
I don’t own many Apple products but this guarantees I will not own any more. These homofascists are everywhere.

Yeah, and Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act and Obama said marriage is between one man and one woman.
Great tactics to try again in this battle!
Tim Cook used to keep his private life private and I respected that. Too bad that now that the man has “come out” he feels the need to be involved in everything gay.
